ABOUT US

Women in Finance is an organization that was started in South Africa in November 2005 by Colleen Larsen in response to a lack of financial literacy and access to finance of individuals and business owners.

Women in Finance is continually striving to add value as we live our vision and mission in the community.

“To collaboratively develop individuals and business owners.”

Women in Finance promotes opportunities through networking, mentorship, training, collaboration, entrepreneurship development and support. Our individual and corporate members enjoy significant benefits that make a real difference.

United Businesswomen of South Africa (UBSA)
Women in Finance is the driving force behind the United Businesswomen of South Africa. The United Businesswomen of South Africa is an association of currently 18 organisations that formed a collaborative support structure to organisations (whether for profit or not) involved in women empowerment and to leverage the untapped potential of women.

The United Businesswomen of South Africa does not only allow for women organisations. Cognisance is taken that other organisations support women empowerment even though they are not an association of businesswomen/entrepreneurs. These organisations either have businesswomen/entrepreneurs as members or they believe that there is merit in becoming involved in UBSA because of the perceived value of UBSA supporting them.

The inaugural meeting took place in November 2005. UBSA became members of Business Unity South Africa on 1 September 2006.

Entrepreneurs for Africa has a collaborative agreement with British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in South Africa to grow opportunities for both organisations. Various joint functions will be held.

The "founding members" of 85 Broads were women who worked for Goldman Sachs at 85 Broad Street, the investment banking firm’s New York City address. Over the past decade, they have expanded their global membership to include women who are students and alumnae of the world’s leading colleges, universities, and graduate schools and women who have demonstrated their vision, entrepreneurship or simply their passion for collaborating with other talented women globally.

85 Broads is now a multi-cultural, multi-generational network of over 20,000 trailblazing, visionary women who leverage their talent and leadership savvy to earn a higher return on their intellect.
